Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Depression in the elderly is a widespread problem that is often not diagnosed and frequently under treated. Many older individuals will not admit to signs and symptoms of depression for fear of being seen as weak or crazy.

Some possibly list signs/symptoms that many seniors experience include:  trouble sleeping, loss of energy, impaired concentration, low self-esteem, feelings of helplessness, increased irritability, hopelessness about the future, excessive anxiety, guilt or anger, loss of motivation,  and/or social withdrawal.

If you or a loved one experiences some of the symptoms here, call your doctor for more information.
