WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THIS PROGRAM?

The purpose of our high school volunteer program is to promote the personal growth of our teenagers, encouraging service to others and future career choices. There is the potential for future employment in the Hillcrest Health System if the Junior meets all qualifications.

The Junior Volunteers are commended for their services with a recognition program and acknowledgment of their service hours. They are invited to continue volunteering at the medical center indefinitely.

The following Hillcrest departments use Junior Volunteers:

     Gift Shop--Assist as Sales Person

     Information Desk--Provide general information to customers

     Food Services--Visit with patients regarding their nutritional needs

     Materials Management--Help stock storeroom items & in-hospital mail delivery

     Human Resources--Provide clerical assistance

     Patient Registration--Transport patients and provide clerical assistance

    Emergency Department--Provide clerical assistance

     Kidsville--Act as patient advocate

     “Heart-to-Heart” Program--Work with cardiac patients

     Other clinical areas
