Admission Criteria
To ensure admission of appropriate patients, a pre-admission screening is provided to all referred patients. The medical director is responsible for authorizing a patient's admission to the program. The following guidelines may be applied to determine the appropriateness of the patient:- The patient has the potential to improve function or achieve independence;
- The patient is medically stable;
- The patient and the family are willing to participate with the team in the therapeutic program;
- The patient can tolerate and benefit from a minimum of three (3) hours of therapeutic services per day, at least five (5) days per week;
- The patient requires 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care;
- The patient has not previously been admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation program for the same diagnosis, unless functional status has significantly changed.
