To ensure admission of appropriate patients, a pre-admission screening is provided to all referred patients. The medical director is responsible for authorizing a patient's admission to the program. The following guidelines may be applied to determine the appropriateness of the patient:
  • The patient has the potential to improve function or achieve independence;
  • The patient is medically stable;
  • The patient and the family are willing to participate with the team in the therapeutic program;
  • The patient can tolerate and benefit from a minimum of three (3) hours of therapeutic services per day, at least five (5) days per week;
  • The patient requires 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care;
  • The patient has not previously been admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation program for the same diagnosis, unless functional status has significantly changed.
This program does not currently service persons who are ventilator dependent, comatose, or who have complete spinal cord injuries or burn management needs. Persons must also be 18 years or older for admission.
