Hillcrest Participates In Family Friendly Worksite Program. 
The Hillcrest Associate Lactation Center, conveniently located between NICU and 2C, provides a private, convenient facility for breastfeeding Associates who desire to continue breastfeeding upon returning to the workplace. Users are able to take care of all of their breastfeeding needs in this comfortable setting which contains a sink, glider, breast pumps and a refrigerator for storage. 

This service has been available to Hillcrest Associates since August 2000. The Texas Mother Friendly Workplace Program and national legislation recommend that organizations provide an area to facilitate their breastfeeding employees. Even though this proposed act is pending, Hillcrest has taken a proactive stance in working toward achieving the status of a Family Friendly Workplace. This act was first proposed in 1997; however, this act has been revised, represented and is still waiting for approval. Associates who use the Lactation Center appreciate greatly the comfort and privacy it provides. Candace Hataway, who works in the Mother/Baby Unit on weekends says, "I love it. It's convenient, private and comfortable. When I had my first child who is now four years old, I had to pump in the dictation room, wash equipment in the bathroom, and store milk in the refrigerator in the nurse's lounge. It is much nicer to have everything in one place."
